How colour can make a 2 BHK in Amravati look bigger
3 min read

Five colour tricks that make the rooms of a compact 2 BHK feel wider, taller and more open.
Light walls and a lighter ceiling
Most 2 BHK flats in Amravati have rooms that are long but not wide. Light walls help the eye travel. Paint the ceiling one step lighter than the walls, or plain white. A lighter ceiling seems to float higher, and the room feels taller than it is. Avoid a dark or coloured ceiling in a small flat.
Same shade family through the flat
When each room is a different colour, the flat breaks into small boxes. Choose one family of shades, say warm whites and creams, and use it from the hall through the passage to the bedrooms. The eye reads it as one continuous space. You can still change the tone a little from room to room.
Darker colour at floor level
Keep the darkest colour low. A deeper shade on the skirting, the lower part of the wall, or a dark floor rug grounds the room, while the lighter walls above open it up. This gives the feeling of standing in a wider space. Go from dark at the bottom to light at the top.
Enamel on grills in one colour
Window grills, the main door grill and the balcony railing are often painted in different colours by different painters over the years. That clutter makes a flat look busy. Paint all of them in one enamel colour, such as black, dark grey or white. The windows then feel like one clean frame and the walls look bigger.
Where to keep a bold colour
A bold colour is welcome, but put it where it does the most good. The best place is the wall at the far end of the hall, the one you see when you enter. A strong colour there pulls the eye forward and makes the room feel deeper. Keep the side walls light so the space stays open.
